Stay Hydrated

It’s easy to forget to drink your water.  It’s not just to quench your thirst. The human body is about 60 percent water. You need to drink water to support your energy, mood, and overall health. When you’re well-hydrated, your body functions at its best, helping you feel your best.

The general guideline is to aim for about 8 cups (64 ounces) of water a day, but your needs may vary depending on your activity level, climate, and diet. If water is too plain for you, add flavor! Add slices of lemon, cucumber, or a handful of berries to make your water easier to drink. You can also drink herbal teas or naturally flavored sparkling water.

Hydration doesn’t stop with beverages. Water-rich foods like oranges, watermelon, cucumbers, and leafy greens contribute to your daily intake while adding essential vitamins and minerals. Try eating an orange as a snack or for dessert. I love to put fruit like apples, cranberries, blueberries, and strawberries in my salad.

Keep a reusable water bottle with you throughout the day as a visual reminder to drink your water. You can even set small goals, like drinking a glass of water before each meal, or putting a glass on the counter for each glass of water you intend to drink.

Dehydration can sneak up on you, especially in colder months when you might not feel as thirsty. Watch for signs like fatigue, dry skin, or headaches.  That’s how your body gently reminds you to drink up.

Hydrate! It’s a simple yet powerful way to care for your body, keep your energy high, and stay healthy.
