What Matters Most

Spring brings a sense of renewal and it may be the perfect tine to evaluate how things are going. Are you clear about what matters most to you and are you living your life with purpose? We are one third the way through the year. Are you working toward a goal or have you been coasting? Do you think you need to wait for the perfect time to start? I have news for you. If you keep waiting, you won’t move forward. Sometimes, you just need to start. It might help if you do some thinking before you dive in, but then have a plan in place afterward. Here are a few ways you might look at where you are right now:

1. Look back:  Take some time to look back on the last few months or even the last year.

  • What went well?

  • What challenges did you face and what did you learn?

  • Celebrate your accomplishments, no matter how big or small

  • Acknowledge the growth you've experienced.

Write it down so you can see which experiences have shaped you.

2. Release What No Longer Serves You:  If you were held back by regrets, guilt, unresolved issues, or unproductive habits, it’s important to identify them and release them. This might mean forgiving yourself for mistakes, letting go of grudges, or acknowledging what you can’t control. Consider writing down what you wish to release and then let it go—one option is to write a letter to someone that you never send. Take it a step further and burn the letter (safely). Bring some closure on the past so you can move into your bright future.

3. DeClutter:  Our physical spaces often mirror our mental and emotional state. Take time to declutter your living and work spaces. A clean environment can create room for new energy and opportunities. Organize your workspace, sell, donate, or throw out items you no longer need, and refresh your home to prepare for your next chapter.

Take advantage of this time of year. Review what is going well and what needs to change. Release anyone or anything that is holding you back and clear the path to begin again. Declutter and pass along your treasures by having a yard sale and/or drop off a load at the Salvation Army. Let this be your time to shine with clarity, peace of mind, and a renewed sense of purpose.
