Change With Confidence
Change is hard. Whether you have lost a loved one, become an empty nester, or reached career success and want to get more out of life, it can be difficult to move on. Yet shifting your perspective is what allows you to live more fully. If you are feeling unsure, here are a few ways to build your confidence as you move through a transition.
Recognize Your Strengths
When you lean into your strengths, you quiet limiting beliefs. Let your past successes support you as you pursue what matters now, even if that means becoming a beginner again. If you had a long, successful career, those skills don’t disappear. You will carry them with you whether you seek more leisure time or you have finally started to write your first book.
Map Out Your Day
You can make meaningful progress when you have a vision and take intentional action. Design your day with purpose to help you move forward with clarity. This is a new chapter for you. You can actually structure your time around your priorities, instead of reacting to everyone around you. You will feel empowered when you take small steps each day. When I changed careers and went back to school to become a coach, I created weekly goals to complete my coursework and took small daily actions to learn how to start a business.
Stand Tall / Strike a Pose
Our bodies influence how we feel. Standing tall in a “power pose” like Wonder Woman with hands on hips and feet planted firmly signals confidence to yourself and to others. Try this at home. Stand strong, like Wonder Woman and take up space. Notice how you feel. After holding this pose for 30–60 seconds, your inner strength may begin to rise.
Sometimes confidence begins with a leap of faith. Taking small actions will help you build your confidence before you feel it. With time and practice, your confidence will grow, so you can create a life that feels both fulfilling and meaningful.
